The new Dudley Chesham All Abilities Playspace in The Oaks was officially opened on Monday 28 August by Wollondilly Mayor Matt Gould.

Mayor Matt Gould said, “It was an honour to be able to officially open Wollondilly’s fantastic new Playspace at Dudley Chesham Sportsground.”
“The facility is already being enjoyed by many of our local families, especially children. It’s great to see the project now complete and the kids in action.”
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said the playspace would be a great asset for the Wollondilly community, providing a place for everyone to enjoy.
“The NSW Government’s commitment to quality public open space in our communities is being delivered thanks to partnerships with councils and programs such as the Public Spaces Legacy Program.”
“We’re proud to have contributed $400,000 towards this project, as part of a broader $4 million investment across Wollondilly Shire Council into upgrades to Picton Parklands, Old Menangle School Site, Birrahlee Park, Willis Park and WS Williams Memorial Park.”
Dudley Chesham is an All Abilities Playspace that encompasses universal design principles and supports 'Everyone Can Play'. At the heart of this is a declaration that play really is for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or cultural background.
Mayor Gould said, “Our community told has told us how important it is that we create fun spaces where every child, every parent, and every member of our diverse community can come together to experience the pure joy of play without limitations.”
“We appreciate the funding by NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program which has made this project possible.”
The Playspace is just one part of the Master Plan at Dudley Chesham Sportsground, with new multi-purpose amenities building, off leash dog areas, car parking upgrades and a skate park still to come.
The NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program is an investment in high quality public open space. Together with the NSW Government, Wollondilly Shire Council is delivering vital infrastructure for communities to love the place they live.
