On 14 August 2023, we officially opened the brand new Tahmoor District Sporting Complex building. Mayor Matt Gould, Sally Quinnell MP, representing the Minister for Sport, Hon. Angus Taylor MP and Judy Hannan MP unveiled the building in the presence of representatives from Tahmoor Management Committee and Tahmoor Sportsground users.
Tahmoor Sporting Complex building works are progressing nicely. The ground floor blockwork is completed and the first floor scaffold and formwork is currently being installed- ready for the steel reinforcement and concrete pour to next week (weather permitting).
After this, the first floor structural steel will be installed followed by the continuation for the lift shaft and the installation of roofing and external cladding.
Since the rain has eased, the project has been able to progress forward. The second section of the ground floor concrete slab has now been poured and cured, the blockwork and steelwork for the first floor concrete slab has commenced. The electrical cables for the power supply to the building have been installed and connection to the service provider will be when the project is nearing completion.
In the next couple of weeks the first floor concrete slab will be structurally supported and formed and steel reinforcement will be installed and following this, the first floor concrete slab will be poured and completed, weather permitting.
Works are progressing slowly due to weather conditions. The good news is, we have roughed in the plumbing and slab preparations are in progress for formwork. The new entry road is taking shape and lift pit has been installed.
Excavation works have now begun on the new building.
We have now received our long awaited LvL beams, so work has recommenced on the amenities building located near the BMX track.
The construction of a new two storey multi-purpose amenities building at Tahmoor Sporting Complex is set to commence this month, thanks to funding through the NSW Government Resources for Regions, the Western Parkland City Liveability Program as part of the Western Sydney City Deal, the Greater City Sport Facility Fund and Council contributions.
Project Coordination have been awarded the tender for construction, with the works scheduled to take 9 months. The project is anticipated to be completed by October 2022.
We’re continuing to work on delivering modern and user-friendly facilities at Tahmoor Sporting Complex. The impacts of the pandemic are evident with the building industry seeing a supply shortage which has affected the completion of the amenities building, located near the BMX track.
Rest assured, we are working closely with our building contractor GWP Constructions to ensure we are able to deliver a brand new toilet facility for the community as soon as possible. To date, block works including the slab and plumbing works have been completed.
