Food Organics and Garden Organics (commonly referred to as FOGO) is a kerb side waste collection service where residents place food waste in the green-lid garden organics bin instead of the red-lid garbage bin. The food and organics waste is then processed and recycled into nutrient rich compost, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Wollondilly does not currently offer the FOGO service however, the NSW Government’s Waste and Sustainable Material Strategy 2041, which was adopted in 2021, requires councils to make this service available to all NSW households by 2030. Information about the introduction of the FOGO service for Wollondilly will be communicated to residents soon.
For more information, read our FOGO fact sheet or contact the Waste Team by phone on (02) 4677 1100 or email council@wollondilly.nsw.gov.au.
