Near Bents Basin Road intersection and Blaxlands Crossing Bridge Council has completed the delivery of:
Federal Government Western Sydney Infrastructure Program (WSIP) round 3 and 4 funded up to $13m of upgrades through Silverdale Road through the Silverdale township. This work included the delivery of road reconstruction, underground stormwater drainage and footpath.
NSW Road Safety Program – Safer Local Government Roads implemented road safety upgrades along Silverdale Road between The Oaks and Silverdale. This grant provided $5 million enabling Council to upgrade the road to improve its quality and poor crash history. This work included the delivery of various road repairs and road safety features.
Heavy Vehicle Safety & Productivity Program - works have been completed through funding provided by the Heavy Vehicle Safety & Productivity Program and Council’s Road Renewal funds. This work delivered road reconstruction and stormwater drainage upgrades to Silverdale Road near Bents Basin Rd and the Blaxland Crossing Bridge.
Transport for NSW’s Get NSW Active Program - completed 750 metres of footpath along Taylors Road, Silverdale to provide Taylors Road pedestrian access to the surrounding footpath networks.
The Silverdale Road Safety Improvement Program has faced numerous and diverse challenges, which has resulted in project delays and frustrated residents. Council resolved earlier in 2023 (Resolution 104/2023) to review the project and as part of the review process to give the community an opportunity to provide feedback. This is in response to community concerns received by Councillors, and Council’s own desire for continuous improvement.
Regular Silverdale Road users were encouraged to participate in a community survey undertaken in February - March 2024.
The survey is now closed. Thanks to all that participated by providing feedback. Results will be made available once assessment is complete.
