The Project

Wollondilly Shire Council and Picton Rangers Soccer Club have secured funding to upgrade the amenities at Picton Sportsground. The extension will more than double the footprint of the existing building and will comfortably accommodate local teams, visiting clubs and spectators. Work will begin on site in early January 2024 and should be completed and ready for use by the end of 2024.

Upgrades include extensions to the existing building to add home and away change rooms, a club room, a multipurpose room including space for emergency services, improvements to the existing canteen, storage, referees’ rooms, a first aid room, an outdoor barbecue area, spectator seating and connection to town water.

Picton Rangers Soccer Club secured two grants for the project including the 2019 Sports Election Commitment Program with the NSW Office of Sport and the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grant through the Commonwealth Government, Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources amounting to a total of more than $3.2M.

Picton Sportsground Amenities

Updates

Picton Sportsground amenities extension is nearly completion. The external work is mostly completed, with some finishing touches to come. Some footpaths were laid today and solar panels have been installed.

Our contractors are focusing on the internal fit out, waterproofing, tiling, etc. 

Northern Building - tiling to changerooms continuing, painting has commenced, 

Southern Building - ceiling panels completed, painting has commenced, wall tiling continuing

Canteen works have commenced with new drainage and walls being installed.

Block work to the northern end extension is now complete and the inground services are nearly done. Block work on the southern end has commenced.

It's great to see the Picton Sportsground extension taking shape with the block work commencing on both the northern and southern ends of the original building.

  • Construction has commenced and excavation of slab,
  • New concrete  drainage line installed,
  • Concrete piers have been poured and external footings being installed,
  • Internal plumbing being installed.

Excavation work at Picton Sportsground is coming well. Here is an update:

  • Foundation footings are being drilled for the building
  • Excavation for the rainwater reuse tank is complete.  This water will be used for the amenities.
