To host a successful event, planning and management must meet the necessary regulative provisions of Local and State Government. The Wollondilly Community Events Guide has been developed for organisers of events in the Wollondilly Shire under the guidance of the Event Starter Guide developed by the Office of Protocol and Special Events.
The Wollondilly Events Guide is relevant for both existing and new events.
Council has made some recent changes to make events easier to hold, including rules for events that do not require any Council approval and an approval pathway for events that need consent. This simple factsheet provides an overview of recent changes to approvals for events. Importantly, there are now specific events that do not require consent from Council.
It is anticipated that these changes will make events easier to hold, providing greater certainty to event organisers and the broader community. Council will continue to revise these approval requirements with the goal to make events easy to host in the Dilly.
When hosting an event aimed at attracting residents, and visitors from outside the shire, don't forget to list your event on visitwollondilly.com.au and make sure you tag #visitwollondilly and #lovethedilly across Facebook or Instagram so we can share and follow your posts.
In 2022, NSW is banning certain single-use plastics. From 1 June, lightweight plastic shopping bags will be banned. From 1 November, single-use plastic straws *, stirrers and cutlery, single-use plates and bowls and expanded polystyrene foodware and cups will be banned.
*An exemption is in place for providing a plastic straw for people with a disability or medical need.
The ban also applies to single-use plastic cotton buds and microbeads in certain rinse-off personal care products.
