Become a Family Day Care Educator

Based on demand in your area, you can determine the days and hours you operate your service whilst enjoying the flexibility of running your own business with the support and guidance of a qualified and experienced Coordination Unit. With that support you will also develop tailored educational programs for the children in your care based on their individual developmental needs, interests and experiences.  

If you are an early childhood professional working in a centre-based environment you may enjoy the freedom and flexibility offered by Family Day Care to shape your career and your learning environment. It’s a unique and rewarding opportunity to develop your own educational programs based on the needs and interests of individual children while building long lasting bonds. 

Qualifications and professional requirements 

• Hold or be actively working towards at least a Certificate III level education and care qualification 
• Current first aid and CPR certificates in Children’s Services 
• Working with Children clearance 
• New educators must provide a national police check (must be no more than 6 months old) 
• Maintain current public liability insurance – this is available from Family Day Care Australia 
• An educator may care for 4 children under school age and three attending school.
