Wollondilly Council is continuing to seek a commitment to enabling infrastructure and an assurance on bushfire safety to support the state-led Appin growth area, with the NSW Government’s decision to accelerate rezoning of Appin for 13,000 additional homes coming into effect in December 2023.
Council’s position is that housing development in Appin is premature without a fully funded, binding infrastructure delivery plan linked to the delivery of housing.

Work will soon begin on repairing long-term damage to an embankment on Remembrance Driveway, Razorback, with a view to opening up the second southbound lane to traffic near the top of the hill.
The project consists of the restoration of the historic rockfall site which led to closure of the lane in 2010, and is part of this term of Council’s efforts to address a backlog of remediation works in the Wollondilly Shire.

Wollondilly Shire Council is entering a new phase of waste management, following a decision at Tuesday night’s Council meeting to move towards implementing changes on site at the Bargo Waste Management Centre, keeping the site open to the community while also moving toward site remediation.
