Anyone can become involved in our Bushcare program! We encourage members of the community of all ages to join us. Those who are under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
The Stonequarry Creek habitat Garden is a stunning site that runs alongside the Picton Botanic Gardens. The site is a focus location for Wollondilly Shire Council's Bushcare Program and council have worked with community and corporate volunteer groups to restore the river flat forest that used to occur on the site pre-settlement.
Through Bushcare activity days, groups will remove invasive species and replace them with native trees and shrubs that will help the site become more resilient to high rainfall events, stabilise creek banks and enhance habitat for local birds, insects and other fauna. Some of the local native plants include Paperbarks, She Oaks, Wattles, Tea Tree and Mat Rush.
