Wollondilly Shire Council’s draft 23/24 Operational Plan and Budget includes a massive $56.1 million investment into roads and infrastructure delivery all across the Shire, from Warragamba to Yanderra, Oakdale to Menangle and Appin to Thirlmere.
This includes an unprecedented contribution into sporting facilities and parks in Wollondilly’s towns and villages, with a range of new facilities and upgrades set to make recreational activities more accessible for everyone.
Mayor Matt Gould said, “I am delighted that this draft 2023/24 Operational Plan invests significantly in our parks and sportsgrounds, on top of our massive roads program, with residents right across our 2500km2 Shire seeing the benefits of this record infrastructure spend.”
“Sportsgrounds and parks are at the heart of our communities and provide a place for our community to enjoy outdoor recreation opportunities, supporting people to lead healthy and active lifestyles while also giving them a strong sense of enjoyment and belonging through engaging with their various sports clubs and organisations.”
In 2023/24 the following sporting complexes will receive new or upgraded facilities:
- Douglas Park Sportsground – upgrade to lighting and sportsground renewal
- Oakdale, Willis Park - sportsground renewal
- Appin, Gordon Lewis Oval – reconstruction of oval
