DUDLEY CHESHAM MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING - NOW COMPLETE

The multi-million dollar Dudley Chesham Multipurpose Building and grandstand at The Oaks has been completed and is ready to welcome the community.
On Monday 17 March, Mayor Matt Gould along with Greg Warren MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Western Sydney representing the NSW Premier, Judy Hannan MP, Deputy Mayor Matthew Deeth, Councillors Hilton Gibbs, Suzy Brandstater, Ally Dench, Patricia Hill and Jacqueline Jensen proudly cut the ribbon alongside community members. Councillor Gibbs and Greg Warren also unveiled the plaque to celebrate the opening of the new complex.
Special guests Deanna Windle (daughter of Dudley Chesham) and Dudley Chesham facility users including The Oaks Tigers Junior and Senior Rugby League Clubs, The Oaks Netball Club, The Macarthur Astronomical Society, The Oaks Horse and Pony Club, The Oaks and Burragorang Cricket Club and The Oaks Vanderville Tennis Club were represented at the opening and enjoyed a sausage sizzle and a look at the completed facility.
The $5.2m project was funded under the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Fund, and we acknowledge their generous contribution to sport in Wollondilly.
The new multipurpose building includes:
· grandstand seating
· meeting rooms
· canteens
· storerooms
· a caller box
· a club room
· male and female accessible change rooms and toilets
Mayor Matt Gould was delighted to be a part of this inspirational project. He said, “This project is a game changer for The Oaks and I am so proud that it’s now completed and in use.”
“Dudley Chesham Sportsground is the main sporting precinct of The Oaks and surrounding rural areas, and somewhere our community can connect, play and keep fit.”
“The area has a growing population and the completion of the building will be welcomed by the residents of The Oaks and its surrounds. It’s a fantastic asset for Wollondilly,” he said.
Greg Warren MP, representing NSW Premier Chris Minns said, “The Dudley Chesham Sportsground Building represents everything the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant is all about. It supports communities and sport both now and into the future.”
“A facility such as this is what Wollondilly deserves and what The Oaks deserves. Congratulations to Wollondilly Council on delivering this remarkable asset,” he said.
