Council’s draft Operational Plan & Budget proposes massive investment into Wollondilly’s road network

Wollondilly Shire Council’s 23/24 Operational Plan and Budget will place a massive ongoing investment into roads, with major repairs and improvements planned for the Shire’s 890km road network.
With road repairs at its core, the draft Operational Plan and Budget has been published following feedback from the community and will be considered in a report to Tuesday night’s Council meeting.
A proposed budget of over $30 million for roads in 2023/24 will build on the huge investment in last year’s budget. It will include an extensive heavy patching program as well as additional resources such as an additional emergency pothole crew and an internal traffic control crew.
Mayor Matt Gould said, “Road repairs remain Council’s top priority. This year has seen less rain, so we have been able to complete some important road projects rather than constantly playing catch-up, and we want to keep this momentum going.”
“Road reconstruction, heavy patching and drainage work will continue to be a focus throughout Wollondilly over the next financial year and in the years ahead.”
“Thank you to those residents and organisations who provided feedback on the Plan to help make sure Council is spending money where the community’s priorities are.”
With over 200 road locations across the Wollondilly Shire set for investment, these are just some that are included for repairs over the next financial year:
- Silverdale Road, various locations
- Remembrance Driveway, various locations
- Silverdale Road, North end
- Burragorang Road, various locations
- Bridge Street, Picton
- Douglas Park Drive, Douglas Park
- Arina Road, Bargo
- Barkers Lodge Road, Lakesland
- Turner Street, Thirlmere
- Bargo River Road, Couridjah
