Wollondilly Shire Council has the fastest approvals for development applications in Greater Sydney, with an average of 53 assessment days, according to a new league table published by the State Government this morning.
The league table shows Council’s performance in regard to lodgement and determination of development applications, with Wollondilly coming out on top despite having the fourth highest number of determinations.

Wollondilly Shire Council has been successful in receiving funding from the Australian Government’s $1.5 billion Housing Support Program.
Recently announced at the Australian Local Government Association conference, this funding will be used to implement Artificial Intelligence in development assessments.

Wollondilly Council has supported a proposal to name a new park at Appin ‘Toggerai Park’ subject to support by the Tharawal Local Aboriginal Land Council and relevant elders.
The park on Appin Road is currently under construction by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure as part of the NSW Government’s Parks for People Program. Following the completion of the park’s construction, the site will be transferred to Council’s ownership.

More than half of Wollondilly’s population lives in rural and rural-residential areas, where Sydney Water’s sewer system is unavailable. As such, there are over 8000 on-site sewage management systems installed in the Shire.
