The Wollondilly Summer Beach Bus prepares to hit the road again in January 2022
Posted on: 29.11.2021
Relief from the heat of summer is at hand with the Wollondilly Summer Beach Bus providing a free hop on, hop off bus service from Wollondilly to the beach again in January 2022.
The highly popular service is entering its ninth year of operation as result of a strong partnership between Wollondilly Shire Council, Picton Buslines and SIMEC Mining.
During the hottest part of summer, the Beach Bus offers Wollondilly residents free travel to North Wollongong Beach from various stops across the Shire.
To enable more residents to join the bus whilst reducing travel time for everyone, two buses will travel on two separate routes; one leaving from Bargo and one from Warragamba.
The Beach Bus will be running throughout January 2022 each Thursday: 6 January, 13 January 2022, 20 January 2022 and the 27 January.
The Beach Bus is for residents of all ages and will stop at 12 locations across the Shire. Appin residents won’t miss out - they can access free preloaded Opal cards from the Appin Pharmacy to catch the regular bus to Wollongong.
Upon arrival at the coast, Wollongong City Council Lifeguards will jump on board the buses to update beachgoers on current surf conditions and beach safety.
The Summer Beach Bus is an unsupervised bus service and there will be no adult supervision on the bus or at the beach. No responsibility will be taken for people who miss their scheduled departure time.
