Tahmoor District Sporting Complex Building Officially Opened

The new Tahmoor District Sporting Complex Building was officially opened on Monday 14 August by Wollondilly Shire Council Mayor Matt Gould and Mrs Sally Quinnell MP, representing Mr Stephen Kamper, Minister for Sport.
The Hon. Angus Taylor MP, Federal Member for Hume, Judy Hannan MP, Member for Wollondilly, Deputy Mayor Matthew Deeth, Councillor Briggs, and Council staff were in attendance.
Representatives from the Tahmoor Sportsground Management Committee and users of the grounds also joined the celebration.
Mayor Matt Gould said, “It was an honour to be able to officially open this fantastic new building on Monday.”
“The regional centre will attract sporting groups from all over NSW. We are very proud to have this brand-new state-of-the-art facility within our Shire.”
Sally Quinnell MP, Member for Camden said projects like these create places that enable communities to come together and increase participation in sport.
“Local sport infrastructure plays a critical role in keeping communities healthy, active and connected and a number of clubs, schools and community groups are set to benefit from these improved facilities.”
The project included:
- Two storey multi-purpose building with changes rooms, amenities, function & meeting rooms and kitchen
- Entry and road way construction
- Two canteens and a commercial kitchen
- First Aid room
- Changing places room
- Five storage rooms for user groups
- Two umpire change rooms
- Carpark
- Landscaping
This project was made possible thanks to funding by the:
- Western Sydney City Deal
- Greater Cities Sports Facility Fund (GCSFF)
- Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program, which supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across the nation, supporting jobs and delivering benefits for local communities.
- Resources for Regions Round 8 (R4R)
The $8 million Tahmoor District Sporting Complex project is co-funded by Wollondilly Shire Council under the Western Parkland City Liveability Program which is part of the Western Sydney City Deal (WSCD).
The Western Sydney City Deal is a partnership between the Australian and NSW Governments and the eight Councils of the Western Parkland City.
