Wollondilly Shire Council has awarded the contract for a coworking space in the recently restored Picton Post Office building to WorkLife, a leading operator of regional co-working spaces.

The appointment followed a competitive process that attracted multiple proposals from local and regional businesses.

The Picton Post Office, built in the late 19^th century, has been a symbolic landmark in the area for generations. Following significant damage due to floods and age, the building was restored with the help of the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund and the State Government’s Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Package.

Mayor Matt Gould said, “It is fantastic to see the old Post Office restored and ready for this new phase of its life. With WorkLife coming on board as the successful operator, the site will soon be open to meet the flexible workspace and business networking needs of the local community.”

“The decision to repurpose the Picton Post Office as a coworking space is a strategic priority for Council. By supporting the development of coworking spaces, The Shire will attract and retain talent, create new jobs, and stimulate economic activity.”

The benefits of coworking are significant, providing an affordable and flexible alternative to traditional office spaces, lowering the risks of establishing a business and making it easier for businesses and entrepreneurs to establish a professional presence and collaborate with others.

Coworking spaces also help to address issues of social isolation, which have risen significantly with the rise of remote work.

Founder of WorkLife, Kate Dezarnaulds said that at its heart sustainability, sharing resources and knowledge are the key factors driving this new way of doing business.

WorkLife Picton currently has space for four exclusive use office suite members, four single Office Pod members and 40 additional flexible memberships.

WorkLife memberships work like a monthly gym membership and are available from $65 - $180 a week. Office suites are available from $250 per week - $600 per week.
