Mayors Message - August 2023
Posted on: 14.08.2023
G'Day Everyone,
Wollondilly Shire Council is part of the Camden Wollondilly Domestic Violence Committee, which works collaboratively with a range of other organisations to raise awareness about domestic violence and to deliver projects across both Camden and Wollondilly LGAs.
I recently hosted a Mayoral Charity Dinner attended by 160 guests at the NSW Train Museum in Thirlmere with a ‘golden thirties’ rail theme. Together we successfully raised $11,000 towards a project aimed specifically at reducing domestic violence within the Wollondilly Shire.
I was honoured to be able to present the cheque to the Committee, which will support them to engage with local sports clubs in the Wollondilly LGA to deliver the Our Club Says No2DV project.
The project will include a series of education workshops and club mentoring as well as events, activities and resource development which will provide club administrators with tools, knowledge and support to drive respect, gender equality and non-violence in clubs, families and the broader community.
Thank you to everyone who donated to this important project.
Mayor Matt Gould
