Wilton is set to grow over the next 30 years, with a diverse range of housing choice expected across the growth area. The area will transition from the current rural landscape to more vibrant and urban environment with playing fields, active transport and green spaces.
The new homes will be supported by a town centre and a series of local centres for local shopping and to provide local job opportunities. Wilton is set amongst the Cumberland Plain which is important vegetation for our koalas and water catchment. This provides a unique and inviting backdrop for the area.
The area has an existing local primary school in Bingara Gorge, and schools are planned in South East Wilton, North Wilton and Wilton Town Centre Precinct. Council is encouraging developers to design neighbourhoods that encourage children to ride or walk to school, with local park networks that will enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
Services, facilities, and shops will be clustered in centres ranging from small to large scale, with the key strategic centre of the Shire being Wilton Town Centre. Wilton Town Centre is expected to support Shire wide recreation facilities, contain a branch library and community centre. These services will be staged over the life of Wilton.
Together we hope to build a strong, diverse and inclusive community with opportunities to work, play and stay local.
Are you ready to start an exciting journey in your new home? We understand that moving to a new community can sometimes feel daunting. But fear not! Our Community team is here to create social events, informative workshops and fun projects for all ages.

Wilton 2040, developed by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment provides a blueprint for creating a resilient and sustainable community. This vision includes a diverse range of housing options surrounded by green open spaces and protected bushland. Wilton has been planned with the view of it being an attractive place to live, a new vibrant town centre providing jobs and services to the wider community. Improvements to transportation links and a network of walking and cycle paths are also set to make moving around Wilton easier.
In the next 20 to 30 years, Wilton is projected to evolve into a major new centre, with plans to accommodate 15,000 homes and provide space for 15,000 jobs. The development aims to promote diversity in jobs and housing, introduce new infrastructure, protect the environment, enhance public transportation services, and offer various social and community facilities.
The Wilton Growth Area is divided into seven distinct precincts delivering key infrastructure, each at different stages of development:
The Wilton 2040 and Infrastructure Brochure emphasises key infrastructure enhancements to be delivered by the NSW State Government, developer and Council. Some of these anticipated improvements include:
