Posted on: 19.09.2016

People who live in Macarthur are part of the lucky few who have access to Mother Nature’s beautiful nature reserves, waterways and landscapes. Locals are proud of their local environment and continuously boast of the beauty of their home. This pride is the driving force behind the 2016 Macarthur Nature Photography Competition.

This competition is an invitation for budding photographers to show the public an inspiring piece or place of nature in the Macarthur region. There are 5 categories that a photographer can focus on:

  1. Waterways
  2. Flora and Fauna
  3. Environmental Impact
  4. Nature Up Close
  5. Hollows as Homes

There is also a ‘Snap a Selfie’ category challenging friends and family to take the most selfies in nature and upload them to Facebook with the hashtag #snapMNPC.

There are more than $5000 worth of prizes to be won, with entries open to Individuals, High Schools and Primary Schools.

Damion Stirling, Environmental Education Officer, invites budding photographers and nature lovers alike to enter saying “ We want you to show us, through photography, how important your local environment and its native plants and animals are to you. Grab an entry form today and start snapping!”

Entries close Friday 23 September, entry forms can be found on Council’s website at Macarthur Nature Photography Competition.
