Draft Wollondilly Social Planning Strategy Public Exhibition

The Draft Wollondilly Social Planning Strategy is currently on public exhibition from 24th of August - 16th of September 2016.

Council is requesting feedback from all stakeholders on the draft document to make sure everything has been captured to help us meet the needs of the Wollondilly community now and into the future. The document can be accessed using Council’s Online Community Engagement Portal Engage.Wollondilly www.engage.wollondilly.nsw.gov.au

Social planning strategies are planning documents which outline how decision-makers, agencies and communities can work together to address community needs and build stronger, healthier and socially sustainable communities. The Draft Wollondilly Social Planning Strategy has been prepared by GHD Consultants and developed on behalf of the Wollondilly Health Alliance and Wollondilly Shire Council.

The Draft Wollondilly Social Planning Strategy is based on leading practice frameworks for social sustainability and wellbeing. These frameworks identify specific requirements for ensuring quality of life and community wellbeing. 

The Draft Wollondilly Social Planning Strategy is structured around five key themes

  • Fostering Social Inclusion & Community Cohesion
  • Facilitating Accessibility & Connectivity
  • Providing Diverse & Affordable Living
  • Supporting Education, Lifelong Learning & Economic Wellbeing
  • Creating Healthy, Safe & Secure Communities 

For each theme, a detailed analysis has been undertaken of the services and facilities available in Wollondilly,challenges experienced and opportunities.  A summary of each theme in the Draft Wollondilly Social Planning Strategy including challenges and proposed actions has been developed and is included on Engage.Wollondilly
